Midway is the easy Chicago airport. It is ten miles from the Loop, one terminal, short walks, and most flights are Southwest. What trips people up is the ground side: the rideshare lot is a hike, the taxi line moves in bursts, and on a Friday evening the Stevenson can add half an hour you did not plan for. This is a plain guide to how our Midway limo service works, what it costs, and how to get the timing right.
What a Midway limo service costs
Flat rate, quoted before you book, and the quote is the price. Downtown Chicago to Midway starts at $126 in a luxury sedan. SUVs (Cadillac Escalade ESV or Lincoln Navigator) cost more and carry five people with luggage. Suburban pickups are quoted the same way, by pickup address and vehicle, and the number does not move because your flight is at 6 am or because it is raining. Tolls and parking, if any, are itemized. Full details are in our Chicago limo prices guide.
Where your chauffeur meets you at Midway
Midway keeps pre-arranged limousine pickups separate from taxis and rideshare, which is the whole point of booking ahead. Once your flight lands, your chauffeur texts you with the exact door on the lower level and the vehicle description. If you would rather be met inside, tell us when you book and the chauffeur waits at baggage claim with a name sign. Either way you do not walk to a remote lot and you do not stand in a line.
Timing: how early to leave for Midway
From downtown, allow 25 to 30 minutes off-peak and 45 to 60 in the evening rush. From the western suburbs (Naperville, Oak Brook, Hinsdale) plan on 45 to 75 minutes depending on I-55 and I-355. From the northwest suburbs (Arlington Heights, Schaumburg) it is closer to an hour on a good day and more when the Tri-State is slow. We track every inbound flight, so on the airport side you do not need to tell us about a delay. On the departure side, we recommend being at Midway 90 minutes before a domestic flight; TSA there is quicker than O’Hare but it is one checkpoint and it backs up early morning.
Midway from the suburbs
Plenty of Midway trips start in the suburbs, not downtown. Naperville to Midway is a straight run down I-355 to I-55. Hinsdale, Western Springs, La Grange and Oak Brook are the shortest suburban rides to Midway of all. Orland Park and Tinley Park come up via I-294 or Cicero Avenue. From the north and northwest, Arlington Heights, Schaumburg and Park Ridge are usually 50 to 70 minutes. If you are booking from any of these, our Naperville limo service and Arlington Heights limo service pages cover the local details, and this guide covers the same suburbs to O’Hare.
Midway vs O’Hare: which airport do we recommend?
If you have the choice, fly Midway when you are south or west of the Loop, or anywhere along I-55. Fly O’Hare from the north and northwest suburbs. The airports are about 20 miles apart and an O’Hare to Midway transfer during rush hour can take over an hour, so if your itinerary has you arriving at one and departing from the other, book the transfer as its own ride and give it time. Our O’Hare limo service runs on the same flat-rate terms.
Families, groups and car seats
Midway is a family airport. We carry child seats on request at $25 per seat, installed before pickup, and the SUVs take a stroller and four checked bags without a squeeze. Groups of six to fourteen go in the Mercedes Sprinter, which is the only sensible way to move a wedding party or a sports team out of Midway in one vehicle. See our car seat guide if you are travelling with small children.
